Biography
Dr. Stephen Brown is a native of Brewton, Alabama, and has lived and practiced in Rome since August 2007. He completed his undergraduate education at Princeton University, where he played varsity football for four years and was a starting linebacker/defensive end for the 1992 Ivy League Championship Team.
Dr. Brown went on to earn his medical doctorate from the University of Alabama, after which he completed his orthopaedic residency training at the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham. Dr. Brown left Alabama to complete a fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder and elbow reconstruction with OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, North Carolina.
During his career, Dr. Brown has been fortunate to serve as a team physician to various sports organizations, including: Carolina Panthers (NFL), Charlotte Knights (Triple A-White Sox), UNC Charlotte, Davidson College, UAB, and various other professional, collegiate and high school teams in Birmingham, Charlotte, Rome and surrounding areas.
Dr. Brown focuses on the prevention and care of athletic injuries, as well as arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, elbow and knee. He has extensive training in shoulder, elbow and knee reconstructive and replacement procedures. He also cares for patients with traumatic injuries and fractures.
Dr. Brown and his wife Melinda reside in Rome with their three sons, Lawson, Connor and Banks.
